what is kkul? scroll

in korean, kkul literally means "honey," but as slang, it's used to describe anything fantastic, super good, enjoyable, or valuable. when i had just created this site i was reeeally into learning korean and this was one of my favorite words :3 i really liked the sound of it and, since my site's theme is entirely about sweets, "honey" seemed like a good url ♡
if i'm being honest, i just wanted something that was short, cute and a good representation of my aethestic. i didn't put that much thought into it (although nowadays i really love this user and i'm glad i chose it as my site's name!). i also really like the word play when someone says my site is super kkul (no one has ever said that, but when i imagine this, it sounds so funny...)

i would like to kindly credit nyaa, elliot, and ribbondoll for being such beautiful sites and serving as a huge source of inspiration for me. i do my best to keep my originality, but sometimes we truly can’t help finding a cute site and immediately feeling inspired to create something new in a similar style. if you like my blog, i highly encourage you to visit theirs as well and give them lots of love! ( ´ ˘ `⑅ )੭ ♡

most of my side blogs are original designs that i coded from scratch, but i also want to mention that many of them started as ideas from my closest friends. they know all about my love for coding and what i can and cannot do; they’re always encouraging me to be creative and try something new (which is also the reason i have so many unfinished projects...).

as i always say, i'm completely fine with people taking inspiration from me. i actually feel very honored! it’s surreal to see how far i’ve come in this coding journey. even though i still consider myself a beginner, having people tell me they admire my work and find inspiration in my creations for their own projects makes me happier than i can describe.
i only ask that you please be mindful of the difference between inspiration and straight-up copying. you’re welcome to study my code and scripts to learn how i did something, and i don't mind if you contact me for help, but i really don't want to see people copying and pasting entire sections of my code. i want you to share your own talents and creativity by being your original self. please be respectful and credit me properly ♡

who is mocha? scroll

this is my internet persona, of course. i'm not comfortable with the idea of sharing personal information so publicly, so i chose a nickname that resonated with me and matched my irl name. i wanted something that sounded just as sweet as my entire theme, so when you think of me, imagine a mocha coffee ( ´ ˘ `⑅ )੭ but i'm also fine with people just calling me mimi (my irl nickname), kkul, or honey. as long as it's not offensive, i'll love any and every nickname given to me ♡

when i think about it, there's not much to be said about me. i consider myself quite boring, to be honest. i was born on april 27th, 2004 (which makes me almost 22 years old… eek!), and for my entire life i've been extremely shy and introverted. in middle school, i was diagnosed with severe social anxiety, which led me to live even more isolated and, therefore, be online all the time. unfortunately, the internet isn't the same safe place it used to be when i was younger. people get way too comfortable with the power of anonymity and don't care whether what they say can hurt someone's feelings. this made me realize i needed to create my own bubble and live by some rules in order to protect myself and my mental health if i wanted to stay online. this is the premise of how my site was born!

my biggest inspo (not only as a site owner, but as a person too) is middlepot. she's such a sweet and caring human being, and the second i found her website and got to know more about her, i immediately knew she was who i aspired to become one day. so that's what i did. not that i changed myself to fit into this idea, but i opened my eyes and realized i wanted to be better, do better. i wanted to put effort into taking care of myself, into being my sweetest version, into helping others, and into dedicating my life to what i love and cherish.

i dedicated years of my life to learning how to code, because all i wanted was to have a place of my own where i didn't need to care about the opinions or judgments of strangers. this is my own cozy little corner of the internet, where i create and post things for my own sake, but also do my best to help anyone who finds me here. i think that kkul, as a whole, is a shrine to myself. i have all of my interests and all the things i love reunited in the same place, all for my own comfort and happiness.

i don't use any other social media besides neocities (where i host my site), anilist (where i keep organized lists of everything i consume), and tiktok (where i only allow my closest friends, so i can occasionally share fun and cute videos with the people i love). i don't need anything else, having created my own comfy place online.

if you happen to be one of the kind strangers that found this page, read everything until this line and still cares enough to get to know more about me (which, i need to say, makes me very happy and quite emotional), you can read more about who i am and what i like in my /about page. ♡

my favorite hobbies scroll

my biggest hobby (and the one i love the MOST) is reading. ever since i was a kid, my mom has worked as a librarian at my elementary school. i still remember the hours i spent there with her, helping her organize books and reading during my breaks. that library was my safe space, the place where i used to hide when i felt anxious or needed some serotonin. my mom taught me to love books by always gifting me one for my birthday or any other special occasions :3 i would have a room FULL of books if i wasn't the type of person to always donate the ones i didn't like enough to keep. i prefer to read on my kindle anyway, so my shelf is my small collection of my favorites books of all times!

wouldn't it be funny if i never mentioned coding as one of my biggest hobbies too? well, that could never happen, since it's such a BIG part of my life. like, seriously... i'm on my laptop all day... when i'm not working, i'm always here, coding something.
